#contentment Life Journal day 343 / 1 Timothy 5, 6, Titus 1-3

1 Timothy 6:8-10 ESV

But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

It seems to me that this passage of scripture speaks clearly to this generation.  So many of us have come to pursue money above all things.  This of course means that we have made money into an idol and we worship money instead of God.  Money is so alluring.  It calls out and draws the weak away from godliness.  I pray that you would pray and ask God to search your heart.  Let Him reveal what is deep within your heart.  Do not be afraid.  This is for your own good and for the glory of God the Father.  He will not strike you but instead He will forgive you and place within you a desire to worship Him only for this is what is appropriate.  The pursuit of money promises greatness, happiness, power. But it can not deliver. Instead, though it cost you everything, pursue Jesus Christ. In Christ is absolutely everything that you will need for all of eternity.
